Last year the Thrift Store generated over $1.3M in gross sales.
As our Thrift Store Director, you will lead the continued growth of the store and the development of new strategies to expand the store’s profitability and our organization’s long-term sustainability. William Temple House Jam!
The Mission: Held during Mental Health Awareness Month, our inaugural William Temple House Jam! is more than just a concert; it’s a high-energy community fundraiser designed to fuel the essential programs of William Temple House: mental health counseling, social services navigation, and our food pantry.
The Event: On May 9, 2026, we’re bringing together a curated lineup of local Portland musicians for an afternoon of live music, food trucks, thrift shopping and more. We are building an event that’s vibrant, purpose-driven and deeply rooted in serving and celebrating our Portland community.
Volunteer Event Operations Lead
We are looking for a Volunteer Event Operations Lead to work side-by-side with our Event Planning Team to bring William Temple House Jam! to life.
This isn’t just a “day-of” gig, we’re looking for a strategic partner to jump in during the home stretch (April–May) to help us bring the event to life.
If you have a knack for logistics, love the “behind-the-scenes” magic of live production, and want to play a pivotal role in a major Portland fundraiser, we want you on the team!
Possible Assignments to include:
- Vendor Logistics: Assist as a contact for food trucks, tech crews, or performers to ensure alignment on load-in, power requirements, and other needs.
- Asset Coordination: Help track and organize event materials from sponsorship banners and raffle prizes to directional signage and backstage hospitality.
- Volunteer Command: Partner with the Volunteer Department to onboard and brief the various volunteer squads on event day.
- Tactical Problem Solving: Serve as a brainstorming partner for the Events team, troubleshooting last-minute pivots.
- On-Site Management on Event Day: Be available on-site May 9th to manage real-time needs (event time: 2pm-8pm).
Time Commitment: Flexible hours, becoming heaviest in the three weeks leading up to the event (Mid-April to May.) Estimated 20 hour total commitment pre-event.
Event Day: On-site Saturday, May 9th, from 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM.
Interested? Please email Erin Brett at ebrett@williamtemple.org.
Volunteer Community Outreach Lead
We are looking for a Volunteer Community Outreach Lead to work side-by-side with our Event Planning Team to make the William Temple House Jam! the talk of Portland. We need a “boots on the ground” visionary who knows every hidden community board in the Pearl, the best coffee shops in SE, and the local connectors who help Portland shine.
You will work closely with our Communications & Development Coordinator and Event Planner to ensure our message is seen and heard across the city.
The Vibe: High-energy, community-connected, and slightly obsessed with seeing our event posters in every corner of Portland.
What You’ll Do:
- Map the Outreach: Organize a “flyer takeover” across PDX–assigning zones to volunteers so no message board or shop window is left behind.
- Identify the “Hidden Gems”: Find unique, non-traditional spots for posters and ad placements: think neighborhood newsletters, local podcasts, and specialty shop Instagrams.
- Lead the Crew: Act as the main point of contact for our distribution volunteers to ensure we’re covering the city efficiently and effectively.
- Spread the Word: Be the friendly face of the William Temple House Jam!, sharing the mission with local business owners as you secure prime poster real estate.
Time Commitment: Flexible, but heaviest in the 4 weeks leading up to the May 9th event. Estimated 20 hour commitment.
Sound like you? Join the Jam! And email Medina Husakovic at mhusakovic@williamtemple.org.
