We’re thrilled to announce that Dr. Vicente Murgado has joined William Temple House as our next Director of Training and Clinical Services, as of February 20th. Dr. Murgado will steward our Counseling Program, ensuring we continue providing high-quality, accessible counseling to our diverse community, as well as a competent space for new counselors to receive education and training.

Originally from Cuba, Dr. Murgado is a bilingual therapist and educator who is deeply committed to promoting culturally and linguistically appropriate services. His previous work in our community includes Counselor and Adjunct Professor at Pacific University, Clinician at NW-ADHD, Behavioral and Mental Health Program Manager at Latino Network, and Consultant and Trainer for Multnomah County’s School-Based Mental Health Programs and Adelante Mujeres.

Below is a welcome message from Vicente:

“William Temple House’s Counseling Program has a unique, 50-year tradition that we all feel strongly proud to be part of: the tradition of caring compassionately for the mental health needs of our community. It is in this spirit that I join the counseling team and hope others join our efforts in their capacity. I believe that mental health care is a fundamental human right, as any other health care right. Together, we can respond to those in our community who have reached out and are waiting for the opportunity to receive mental health care.”

We’re truly excited to see what we accomplish together with Vicente’s expertise.

There will be more opportunities to interact with Vicente after he settles into his role. For now, please join us in giving him a warm, William Temple House welcome!
