Spring into Action

for Mental Health Awareness Month

May is Mental Health Awareness Month—and never has that felt more urgent. Cuts to SNAP, Medicaid, USDA, and other vital programs are threatening to deepen hunger, intensify mental health challenges, and stretch the already-thin resources we rely on to run our food pantry and counseling services.

But we cannot afford to give up. And you don’t have to either.  We can choose to build up, rather than tear down, the good things in our community.

This May, we’ve launched our Spring Appeal with an urgent goal: Can you help us raise $100,000 by June 15th to continue providing food, counseling, and connection to our neighbors who need it most?

Here’s how your gift will build resilience for yourself and our community:

Make a gift to fund accessible mental health care and new levels of service so that everyone, regardless of their ability to pay, can access the mental health support they need.

Contribute to our Food Fund to help our pantry meet rising demand. We’re working with a coalition of nonprofit partners on a plan for bulk purchasing of locally grown food to help offset the dramatic reduction in food assistance in the federal budget.

Participate in a lasting and local cycle of care. Your gift ensures William Temple House is available as a safe space for the most vulnerable in our community.

One of the most powerful things we can do for our own mental health is to choose to build up the good things in our community. When uncertainty is everywhere, your investment in Portland is a grounding force–not just for those seeking care, but for you, too.
