Development Associate

The Development Associate is an integral part of William Temple House’s development team and often is a first line of contact for donors, prospects and volunteers. The Development Associate works closely with the Director of Development and the rest of the Development team to meet the fundraising and marketing objectives of William Temple House.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the planning and implementation of events including a successful annual auction. Works with staff and volunteers to secure donations and sponsorships in support of event objectives. Maintains event records.
  • Manages donor management database including data entry, report generation, file preparation, and accurate gift, event, donor and prospect records.
  • Assists in training of volunteers and staff in use of Raiser’s Edge database tools and provides support to Raiser’s Edge users.
  • Manages data maintenance projects.
  • Works with volunteers.
  • Can perform all data entry and maintenance tasks and is the primary person responsible for these tasks or can perform these tasks in the absence of the person with primary responsibility.
  • Oversees the maintenance of development filing systems (electronic and hardcopy) for individuals, grants, events, and other projects.
  • Interacts in a professional manner with staff and volunteers, donors, prospects, and others to further the objectives of William Temple House and the development department and to ensure effective coordination of programs, projects, and activities.
  • Personal, phone, written, and e-mail interaction with staff, volunteers, donors and prospects is an integral part of each day’s duties.
  • Assists in the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors and prospects.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • One-year experience in non-profit development including event coordination preferred.
  • One-year experience with a donor management and auction software (Raiser’s Edge and AuctionPay) preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail and adherence to deadlines.
  • Ability to work with confidential donor information.
  • Strong computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office software products.
  • Ability to present information in a logical, clear, and easy-to-read manner.
  • Graphic design skills a plus. Adobe InDesign and Adobe Dreamweaver software skills a plus.

Contract Writer

The Contract Writer will research and write grant proposals, press releases, newsletter and web content, e-mails, and direct mail solicitations as needed.

Excellent writing skills are a must as is accuracy, attention to detail and strict adherence to deadlines.

Graphic design skills a plus. Adobe InDesign and Adobe Dreamweaver software skills a plus.
