For low-income individuals or families in the Portland area, there is no better place to receive professional counseling than William Temple House.

The emphasis is on high-quality treatment, respect and open access. We help clients make positive changes in whatever area they need the most help.

Professional counseling services are provided at a nominal cost of $10 per session.

Physical and financial problems can have an impact on mental and emotional health. At William Temple House, clients also can receive emergency food, clothing, and other basic necessities.

We are unique in our ability to offer voluntary pastoral care. If a client at William Temple House chooses to share his or her beliefs as part of counseling, the counselor is free to incorporate those beliefs into the healing process.

"One of the things that's most precious to me about William Temple House is that we don't have to march to anyone else's drum," says Susan Bettis, Ph.D., clinical director of the counseling department. "We can use every resource to help people address their problems."
